Why is aerosol droplet size important?
ICP instrument performance is greatly determined by the quality of the aerosol generated by the nebulizers. Performance improves when big drops are removed from the nebulization gas flow, and a spray chamber is located after the nebulizers to achieve this goal. OneNeb Nebulizers generate very fine and reproducible primary aerosols which are mainly formed by droplets with a mean diameter below the cut-off diameters of the spray chambers usually used in ICP liquid-sample introduction systems. As a result, the aerosol lost inside the spray chambers is reduced and sample transport to the plasma is higher than with other pneumatic nebulizers, even at high liquid uptake rates (i.e., 1 mL min-1).
